If you look at E-Trade....they are not one for Pilots...ala Merrill Lynch / MSFDC. They are really a proactive company, I don't see them doing a "Pilot" I would expect them to go live with CheckFree, the Banc One Visa deal with E-Trade built a relationship. Now remember that Banc One went into a Pilot also with MSFDC...then announced on the 15th of May...CheckFree was the way for them to go....got all that? Now this E-Trade / Banc One Visa deals comes along....and in that press E-Trade said they wanted to get into Bill Presentment...OK? Do you think those Executives at E-Trade knew enough to ask the Executives at Banc One what they thought of MSFDC vs. a CheckFree service? And which way are they leaning in 'Benny's' Press....towards CheckFree, and I don't wonder why....after examining the prior moves of Banc One. Anybody can speculate about the Future....but like you said...look to the past for the key to the future. And just maybe that is too simple of a way to look at things...but I do believe in the KISS principle.
