Correct - business to business is much bigger. I have founded two companies that do just this sort of thing (wish I could advertise here <G>). They are doing great - like Roger's companies they make more money than most of the the multi-billion dollar interNUTS companies.

The companies that will make the most money from e-commerce and other uses of the Web, IMO, are those who sell the tools to make it possible.

PALO ALTO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 9, 1998-- Hewlett-Packard Company today enters the low-cost-telecom-test market with a three-tier asymmetric digital subscriber line (ADSL) solution to support local-loop service deployment. The solution consists of the first products from HP's newly formed Service Test Division, including HP's first Windows(R) CE portable test tablet and application modules.

The Service Test Division was created to develop low-cost, small-format test tools designed specifically for customers installing and maintaining emerging services such as ADSL, asynchronous transfer mode (ATM), Frame Relay and integrated services digital network (ISDN).


Let's see, PCs, servers, software, security, e-cash, and now testing equipment to facilitate everyone's upgrade to ADSL. What part of the e-commerce boom won't they make money from? Oh, they don't sell books and CDs. Darn.
