WARRENDALE, Pa., July 9 (Reuters) - American Eagle
Outfitters Inc. said Thursday total sales for the five fiscal
weeks ended July 4, 1998 increased 35.4 percent to $46.7
million from $34.5 million for the five week period ended July
5, 1997.
Comparable sales for the 1998 period were up 26.4 percent
compared to the corresponding five week period last year.
Comparable store sales for the June 1997 period were 11.1
percent.
Sales for the twenty-two weeks ended July 4, 1998 were
$183.7 million compared to $119.2 million for the twenty-two
week period last year, an increase of 54.1 percent. Comparable
store sales for the twenty-two weeks ended July 4, 1998
increased 43.7 percent, compared to the corresponding
twenty-two week period ended July 5, 1997.
