It brings instant cutthroat competition with Intel. Who could possibly want that? Not CPQ or IBM. Sure they're already competitors, but not like they'd be if either of them actually owned AMD.

I would expect INTC to start behaving much more like MSFT does if either CPQ or IBM went for AMD. It would take bigger kahonas than either CPQ or IBM have.
