Hi, Shlomi, please elucidate or give a URL!!! Some of us don't have access to the Globe because we are not Canadian.

You mention potential merger...who is going to swallow who?

[eci]

hi shlomi,

thanks for the heads up on the globes article... seems like it was written somewhat from eci's perspective... maybe a little spin control before an announcement that orctf might be getting more of the eci dt pie? ;) :

"The company (dt) is now preparing to publish the results of its larger, more attractive, ADSL tender..."
globes.co.il

all the clues seem to point in orctf's direction for at least the initial stages for this next dt tender... competition would seem to be alcatel and maybe siemens, as both have been trialing with dt and would think both might be included in an announcement albeit in smaller quantities than orctf... don't believe eci has even made it into dt field trials yet..

and who will be supplying eci adsl dmt silicon? adi? as far as i can tell, they are the only one i know of besides orctf and alcatel who has dmt silicon now. also siemens seems to be using ti and it looks like they (ti) might not ship (in commercial quantities) til 99, looks like maybe a window of opportunity for orctf if the new fujitsu/orctf adsl silicon ships q3 or q4 98 as previously announced.

also interesting that the article didn't mention that orctf probably beat out eci for the hdsl contract noted.. hdsl is described as an "older product line"...

my guess is that the contract is for hdsl2 which will be a very "new" product line... wonder how eci is positioned on that one?

does anyone know who eci uses for hdsl silicon?

"Shapiro (eci marketing) added that the significant difference between ECI and Orckit in ADSL is that fact the ECI-manufactured components are installed in systems sold by the company, while Orckit sells ADSL components to other suppliers..."

if it turns out that orctf is working with either/all fujitsu/lucent/bosch for dt adsl, it's hard to see how having any of these guys doing the installation is much of a negative (at this point)... ;)

thanks again
s
