ABT is doing okay nonetheless. One thing I noticed that market climate in the particular sector is a factor when the report comes out. Note that HELE (although a bit overbought) after it's beating the street was actually down although on a nice upswing for quite a while. Today HELE is back in play again. A 'delayed reaction' sometimes sets in if the rest of the sector happens to be down or mixed. That's why I advocate getting in an on the 'anticipatory upswing' phase even as much as 4-5 days (some even like 1-2 weeks) before the earnings come out. VTSS might be another good example of a stock that has run up on anticipation - picture perfect. Another example now is AVEI.. which has been up 5 points since it became a 'play' for me and is on the earnngs play list. How VTSS and AVEI make out the day it reports is almost anti-climactic. Another interesting point is the upgrades and institutional buys after a good report. That sends the stock into a second phase of strength. I've seen that with GPS, BKE, ANF, ERTS, AVEI after past reports.
