Unless you are with Datek, I don't think I'd do it. I've had nearly 100 orders rejected from ETrade because of no shares to short. I just kept trying over and over after it hit 124. I got some at 136 but haven't been able to get any the last two days.

Wouldn't presume to tell you what to do but can confirm impossibility
of shorting at this time. I am on several lists waiting. Why don't
you sell so I can short? I would sure appreciate it!

Good luck,
Noel

Freeus, consider buying out of the money (say 120) July calls,
and cover them on Monday. If you're short 500 shares of AMZN,
then by 10 July 120 calls, to offset some of the delta in the
calls vs. being net short. With commish, slippage, and time
decay, you may lose as much as $1.50/share or more (depends
on what they do with option volatilities), but you'll be market
neutral and you can rest easy over the weekend.

I am beginning to rethink that. I may not
be able to reshort on Monday due to no shares to short??????
What do you think?

'm reading on this thread that many cannot short due to absence of shares to short. I was
going to cover in the next day or two (to be out over the weekend) and reshort on
Monday. I am beginning to rethink that. I may not be able to reshort on Monday due to
no shares to short?????? What do you think?(So probably I should just hold for the under
100 drop I've been waiting for.)
Freeus

Freeus,

Buy an equivalent amount of sharfes in type 2 or type one. This will box your short and all you need to do is sell your long shares to be short again.
