Alex, the way I see Albright's comments is that if we don't give China what they want, they will wreck everything and we'll be the cause for all the Asian suffering that will result. Perhaps I was wrong in trying to quash some of the exuberance of many of this thread's members who were expressing their view of China's potential. I believed their real influence wouldn't be felt for at least 15 years, but it seems that with a military that couldn't defeat any industrialized country and an economy smaller than California's they have our government cowering over unimaginable horrors if we fail to cooperate with them. OR perhaps it is our government that has led us backwards so now we are a third or fourth rate power and unable to see things as though we were a world leader??????? Thanks for the read. Ron
