Doughboy,
Yeah I agree that buying Manu would absolutely be the best move for Oracle and about the only thing I can think of that would make Oracle apps immediately competitive with Psft and Sap. I've even said that on the Oracle thread, and got blasted for it! Because of some rediculous "architecture" issues - come on, Oracle needs to get a clue about the apps business, if architecture mattered would Sap be #1? I believe that SCM is a real turning point for us ERP people. SCM is potentially more important to many corporations than the old ERP mfg model. Dell is one of those companies (Dell is almost a distributor in some ways), probably Amazon, too. Give these companies a top scm package and who cares about the ERP. So, Oracle needs to buy either I2 or Manu and voila! they are back in the game.

The only thing I was trying to point out is that there has been a mgmt shakeup in Oracle apps, Larry is in charge now, and a new guy has been hired from Sap to head sales (Im still not quite sure what the structure is, but there are some articles on the orcl thread). So its hard to believe that a Manu buyout has been in the works with the mgmt turmoil over there. I think these are just more rumors, but you never know.
