Y2k And the Internet Companies...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I think the problem will begin with the inability of people to get on line in 1999 because of failures on AOL, Compuserve, Netcom, etc., because of some of the 1999 problems caused by the last two digits (99) that were used as a dumping or miscellaneous bucket by programmers for years... This will be the wake up call as the "Hits" per website drop dramatically during these frantic fix up periods... Only then will the light bulb go off as to the magnitude of Y2k potential problems... The Internet Companies will be the first to feel the pain...
Y2k Certification... A Farce?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
""To get ITAA certification, a company must fill out a 36-page questionnaire, which can take about two weeks to complete. Then there is a 4-hour verbal review where the ITAA evaluates a company's file. The cost: only about $9,200. But the ITAA certification is based solely on answers from a survey, which isn't necessarily a legitimate reflection of compliance, some industry observers say.""
