I would expect anionic exchange resins would trap them. I had always remembered AuCl2 as a soluble gold chloride, I suppose it must be AuCl3. How soon we forget. The ease of reduction to solid gold ? Will not the Au+++ be quite content to stay in solution? I do recall a method of reducing gold chloride with, I think formaldehyde and a sugar, to make a surface plated gold mirror by reduction.
The ref by Chuca lacks any tech refs but seems to be a maturing selective resin for gold and? I am curious about how many other species it will trap and what pretreatment is needed to get rid of other competing ions before they enter the system and compete with the gold ions.
