I don't disagree with much of what you say....I assure you from my years of trading experience, i am quite aware of what the settlement day is....My problem is in believing that whomever this MM is or MM's are they decided to cover their "short position" 3 days after the runnup you indicate was partly due to the Alertline recommendation...If this was a group, of investor's who had shorted, I would concur, it might be...But as you stated the MM's don't even need to borrow in order to "short".....I know for a fact, they report 2 times a month....I would wonder while the God awful hurry to cover this position in 3 days time, when they could do it immediately, ie: as in the next day for example.....or...since they have at least until the 14th over a period of several days.......If we are going to throw out some theories, as I admit I have done.....at least offer some more "facts" that we might want to investigate....There is a movement, at least here, for all long investors to request that their shares be put in "safekeeping" by their brokers which would have the same net effect as demanding delivery, without the resultant liquidity problem...This would hinder shorting thru the foreign exchanges, by public investors, but of course would have little effect on MM activity......We're on the same team, I think, so why don't we come up with a realistic game plan...........Peace
