GM: Re "Mr Market will be our referee." Well said although I would like you better as the referee <g>.

I love the fact the now I have been typecast into the role of bull without anyone even asking me. I guess that is what you get when you merely post a positive opinion that seemed to be severely overlooked by the constant posting of the negative news (of which there is plenty, no doubt) and the reaffirmation of that news by other posts. I guess in this environment, anyone who has the slightest bit of a positive outlook must be assumed to be a raging bull. As I see it, the short term bear camp or closet bull camp is bulging with willing volunteers while the bull camp has to draft its enlistees <g>.

Definition time: a closet AMAT bull is a short term bear waiting to post bullish if and when he or she gets his or her price <g>. Nothing wrong with that, mind you. The real debate on this thread seems to be what price is a good price to go long AMAT and nothing more.

On the other hand, a closet AMAT bear is a long bull who hopes the floor won't drop out beneath him or her without them buying more AMAT at a lower price in the face of earnings pre-announcements and poor visibility that would appear to suggest the down cycle will continue.

So, I guess there is no real difference of opinion here. It is just a matter of perception based upon where your interests lie <g>.
