I am currently working on a project that , in one phase, involves sending Java code to a microcontroller. Now, I suppose I have three options. One would be to apply a piggy-back Java processor to our existing 8051-based microcontroller. Yet, we need something very low power since we want the entire arrangment to be in the low milliWatt range. Many Java processors run in the Watt range. Perhaps replacing the 8051 in the microcontroller
with and 8051 with built-in Java interpreter. Or, and this is where
someone here might be able to help me, I could run a small JVM on the
microcontroller.

Does anybody know of a small JVM (perhaps 20 or 30 k) that I could run on an 8051? My current setup has 128k RAM with possible expansion. I figure that once I have the C-code I could use a cross-compiler to make it into 8051 code. How about Kaffe?

Thanks in advance,

Chris
