NVIDIA Summer Camp Raises I.Q. for DirectX 6.0

SUNNYVALE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 10,
1998--NVIDIA(R) Corporation announced today that about 250
developers attended the first annual NVIDIA Summer Camp in San
Francisco, June 11-12, and London, June 25-26.

The Summer Camp, co-sponsored by Microsoft, AMD, STB and
Diamond Multimedia, is part of the ''Raise Your I.Q. (Image Quality)''
program, which is targeted at 3D software developers. The program is
designed to assist developers in producing new 3D titles that utilize
advanced 3D multi-texturing features, photorealistic color and higher
screen and texture resolutions.

''NVIDIA's Raise Your I.Q. program has demonstrated NVIDIA's
clear commitment to use industry standards to improve the overall
experience of 3D graphics on the Windows platform,'' said Kevin
Bachus, product manager for DirectX at Microsoft Corporation
[Nasdaq:MSFT - news]. ''Given that game developers are extremely
busy finalizing their holiday titles, the large developer audience is a
testament to the demand for the type of high quality content presented.
We look forward to working with NVIDIA on similar forums in the
future.''

''Users and content developers are chomping at the bit to take the 3D
experience to the next level,'' said Jen-Hsun Huang, president and
CEO of NVIDA. ''The goal of the Summer Camp and the Raise Your
I.Q. program is to put the power of RIVA TNT and DirectX6 in the
hands of the leading developers so they can deliver exciting titles which
will improve the overall user experience. We look forward to seeing a
new wave of 3D titles take advantage of the stunning effects available
on TNT.''

The developer workshops gave developers their first opportunity to get
hands-on experience with the new RIVA TNT and the new DirectX
6.0 API from Microsoft. NVIDIA's Summer Camp was attended by
over 175 companies, representing all of the world's leading developers
and publishers.

''The technical information and the real-world code examples made
Summer Camp 98, quite possibly, one of the most informative events
of the year,'' commented Ryan Moos, associate producer for
Activision.

''The NVIDIA presentation got me quite excited about the RIVA
TNT technology,'' said Corrinne Yu, director of advanced technology
at ION Storm. ''Full 24-bit and 32-bit intermediate color depth will
preserve the beauty of all the multi-pass effects I am doing and the
flexibility of the multi-texture support, perspective correct color
interpolants, and hardware-accelerated stencil buffer give me quite a
few toys to play with. Attend this presentation, go home, and write
upward scalability into your engines!''

Raise Your I.Q Program

NVIDIA's Raise Your I.Q program is designed to bring a new level of
realism to the PC user's visual experience through the adoption of
industry standards, advanced 3D features and photorealistic imagery.
As program participants, developers receive early access to the
roadmaps and platforms that are rapidly advancing 3D technology.
This access enables developers to improve their software's visual
quality and performance during each stage of title development.

NVIDIA is strategically positioned to provide a single platform for
designing models and artwork, developing scenes and levels,
programming engines and testing and marketing new titles. The ultimate
goal is to encourage developers to create new titles that are optimized
for 24-bit color depths, higher screen resolutions and incorporate 3D
effects, such as multi-texturing, stenciling, atmospheric mapping,
environmental mapping and dynamic lighting.

NVIDIA RIVA Family

NVIDIA's RIVA family of 3D processors, the RIVA 128(tm), RIVA
128ZX and forthcoming RIVA TNT, are 128-bit 3D processors
designed to deliver a new level of performance to the mainstream PC
market. By leveraging NVIDIA's graphics technology and massive
gate counts, the RIVA processor family is designed to deliver
stunningly realistic, high frame rate 3D, along with benchmark winning
2D, VGA and video acceleration all in single chip iterations. The RIVA
processors are optimized for both Direct3D(tm) and OpenGL(tm).

S3 Savage3D Review just out...$99-149..."That Forsaken score is the highest we've ever recorded for a single video card, only the 137.2 FPS rating we achieved with a Canopus Pure3D 2 SLI configuration beats it..."!
