It will be interesting to see if this ruling sticks. I understand the application was x-parte which means that the matter was decided without representation or a submission from the internet chat group providers. The decision may ultimately stand up but I would think there will be an appeal and the interested parties will get a chance to put their views forward. It has major implications for the owners of the Chat Groups such as Yahoo. Do they now have some sort of responsibility for the comments that are made in their chat group if the posting is inflamatory or libelous and damage occurs? Just some thoughts.
