MtnMan --

I was hoping someone would explain exactly what you've pointed out.

I'm not sure in either case.

Pat

Neal,

RE:Some people are talking about going to 0.15 micron with 248-nm lithography. Bad News?

248nm is the wavelength of a KrF excimer laser. Whether they use PSMs or not, who cares, they will be using a KrF laser and most likely a very expensive model.

Great news that Akins will be on CNBC!

Bad News?

Bad News? No. Worst case it's neutral. As the feature sizes get smaller, the certainty that CYMI's lasers will be used increases.

or are they just talking about the masks?

Yes the article was talking about mask making specifically.

Masks eliminate the need for Cymer's DUV lasers?

Definitely not. Better masks facilitate smaller feature sizes which require CYMI's lasers. i.e. The DUV laser light is shone through the mask onto the wafer to form the circuit pattern. Both masks and lasers (in photolithography tools) are required to make chips with small feature sizes.
