Why is it that Iomega's Vapor! 40MB drive is not exactly inspiring glowing prospects in what should be a stronghold of support- namely in the <rec.photo.digital> newsgroup?

Every time the mention of Iomega and Vapor! come up, the idea is laughed off or totally disregarded. Is it because these digital photo enthusiasts know that durable, rugged Flash card tech is the way to go? Is it that Flash Card prices are crashing down- now lower than $150 for 32MB? These prices will only collapse further, and soon-- Intel's new Flash tech (which doubles the data density inside a Flash card for about the same price) is about to be released.

Is it that these people know that one has to spend AT LEAST $200 to even get started in the proprietary Vapor! scheme?

Or is it that these good people know a ripoff when they see one?
