Tim: Thanks for posting the Bitstream report. That article sure sounds like a carbon copy of what several of us here in the "Burke Bear Lair" have been writing for many months. Nice to have company. Actually, the mainstream press is slowly catching on. I've provided research material for several tech-related press articles during this last three months (including the N.Y. Times), where previously, most reporters didn't want to hear about it. Sort of like tripping over the dead bodies after hearing shots in the night. (g) Over this last two years, I've grown accustomed to taking plenty of heat for my super-bearish views, but it hasn't bothered me a fig (except in the wallet, where I was initially burned for being short too early in anticipation of a normal market's discounting of coming events). The time spent in the field provides potent confidence based on KNOWING what's going on, rather than just surmising what may be occurring. I have been surprised about a few aspects of the current PC decline. - while it started out slowly, there has been a distinct acceleration in the deterioration. It is picking up frightening momentum now. - Asia's meltdown has hurt tech sector sales much more than was anticipated by anybody. - This Fall/Christmas season is going to be a total bust. It is evident already to most in the game. - Analysts who are predicting a second half rebound are about to be cremated. None of them provide a particle of fact to back their computer model dreaming. I thought that by now, even the most impaired of that motley bunch would have owned up to the coming debacle. Best, Earlie
