In actuality Netscape has 2 business one of which is now exactly like Yahoo! and Lcos. If you assume that their browser business has a conservative market value of $2 billion based upon what their share price hovered at without the portal business then their portal business which attracts the 3rd most internet users behind Aol and Yahoo! is worth ~ $1.7 billion. This value is far less than Yahoo's value and approxiametly the same value as Lcos. Either both Yahoo and Lcos have to drop 75% of their value or Netscape is going to $80 per share giving it a portal value of $6 billion. The portal business is in the emerging stage and I therefore see no reason why Netscape can't catch up, considering that you automatically end up in Netcenter when using their software if you don't reconfigure. I do agree with you that the management of Netscape is very slow to change but they have 3 key advantages that I believe will make them #1 by the year 2000. 1) They are allowing others to develop programs for their browser just like Microsoft did with there operating system. You know what happened to Apple(who did not). In the end Netscape will win over Internet Explorer unless Microsoft does the same. 2) They are entering the portal business at the same time as the major media companies and are likely to form the best deal because of their browser and low share price. 3) They own the browser

I see a bottom of no less than $35 and a high of $60 within 30 days.

steve -

call me sentimental - but what really attracted me to netscape had nothing to do with technical or fundemental analysis -

I read that Barksdale - took $1 in salary for '97 and give up 300,000 option shares. That strikes me as the kind of mortality I think should be rewarded.

And speaks of a management attitude that should be respected.

I wish you good luck in all your investment strategies and enjoy hearing your opinions
