Richard,>Looks like you got the "buy low" part right this time, but missed the opportunity on the "sell high" part.<

Also, I bought right in 1996 at $26.625 when I made my large purchase. I am just accumulating additional shares with the $$$$$ I have earned from my AMAT and Ca investments. (The low in 1995 was $21.625.) I did not want to sell and pay the govn 40% in capital gains since I had not held the shares for 18 months. Now, I can. However, I have just learned that with the new IRS bill that the 18 months has been reduced to 12 months for getting the 20% capital gains level.

As Lester E., paraphasing, says, I am a conservative investor, all I know is ever two years AMAT runs up and splits and doubles AMAT my portfolio. Did I get it right Lester E.?

IMO, that is not a bad return. I will be happy with such a return.
