I would trust AnandTech before PCmag/PCworld for sure. Look at the benchmarks for the TNT and Savage3D - Savage3D IS faster. It's 2D performance is just about Matrox Millenium II speed which is all anyone ever really needs.

I hear what you are saying about sitting on the sidelines....but I think the dust is begining to settle now...and the Savage3D has the price/performance advantage by far. If you add in the Microsoft DX6 texture compression support in hardware...then you really begin to see that S3 has a significant advantage.

Factor in a cost of $99-149 and it sounds like a no-brainer to me.
