One year ago so called 'silver bullit solutions' popped up now and then. By and large they have been dismissed as such. Peter de Jager has written an excellent rebuttal article on this topic.

Just think of issues such as:

- lost source code
- languages such as PL/1 (most tools can only handle one language very well; mostly COBOL).

Many other reasons can be presented to refute the claim of such a SB solution.

Regards,

John

dii is not a new company, though they would qualify as a young company and they do not have a "magic bullet" or quick fix for Y2K. What they do offer is sofware that recomputes and converts 2 digit dates into four digit dates. Some major companies are using their software along with software from other companies. dii is not applicable across the board to every company for every software/programming situation. As for them having legs, perhaps but be careful. Unlike KEA and TAVA I don't see much of a life for dii say three or five years after 1 Jan 00.

IMHO

John Westergaard has just flashed his subscribers information about a company that
may indeed have found a quick fix for none-imbedded programs. The company is
Data Integrity, a private company. They have a web site: dii2000.com.
John thinks this story has "legs".

Tons of information at the link below about silver bullets in the past (none of them returned bug way in the news; only Bemer now and then pops up - no serious business for any of these 'solutions', however)

<<<<A detailed "white paper" is available on request.
This is all I know about it.
Comments, anyone?>>>

Just a few...

I noticed you spamming this message around SI.

Are you aware that Westergaard is a paid shill? You know - like in paid to promote companies.

How do you know what companies he is paid to promote - that might be crap companies and since he's paid to promote them he might fail to mention the important bad stuff about the company, between the companies he might review objectively?

Two Questions.

1. Did you know Westershill was a paid promoter; and,

2. Are you paid by Westershill to promote his shilly little site?

Thanks Steve
