Unfortunately its never "the government" that pays for your mistakes. Its the taxpayer. And we pay for the govt's mistakes too. Big time.
Just a small example: a Navy guy was arrested for raping his daugter. His daughter was taken away and years later it came out that the police and social workers knew he hadnt done it (lots of other info but never mind). He sued and got over $700000. Guess who paid him? All of our tax money, not the policemen or social workers who did the "crime".(He got his daughter back. She had been traumatized by the being taken out of the home more than the original rape.)
Just a small example. There are much worse and they are numerous.
Sorry not to be humorous on this subject.
