Dan, although I prefer not to debate topics that are mostly a matter of subjective opinion, I will respond to you regarding the relative merits of post #8160, and reiterate my opinion. This probably would best be debated by PM, since I consider this to be pretty much off topic, and yesterdays cold mashed potatoes. My response to your earlier comment regarding GCs post concerning MMs and strategies, is my opinion and it stands alone, as each post must taken on its own merit. You are correct, Dan that the first line, as well as, the entire first paragraph of post #8160 is excellent and cannot be criticized at all, imo. The following excerpt though, is what I consider to be an abrupt, capped, urgent, exclamation filled advisory to MINE shareholders to dump shares to get their investment back. To hurry and head for the exits so to speak. Of course we all know what happens to stock prices when large numbers of shareholders dump stock all at once. (I am imaging a dropping rock.) : DONT GET SUCKED INTO THE HYPE OF THIS THREAD!! HYPE CAN MAKE YOU HOLD SHARES WHEN YOU KNOW YOU SHOULDNT!!!! GET YOUR ORIGINAL INVESTMENT BACK!!!! The caps and multiple exclamation points can only be taken as shouting out an alarming sell order to shareholders regardless of the reason. I find negative doomsday posts as unappealing as blatant hype posts. These two ends of the spectrum appear on SI threads and often posters who take offense will respond accordingly. We are all entitled to our opinions, and investment styles as tough as that is for some SI members to take. We can respond to or ignore messages as we see fit. Upon discussing the paragraph with Chief I am of the opinion that he meant to ill will, he was trying to be helpful. There are shorts, longs, braggarts, bullies, the mentally ill, optimists, pessimists and every other kind of poster on SI because real life, in all of its imperfect splendor, is represented on SI. They are all entitled to their opinions, as am I. Enough bandwidth on this topic. I hope you have an enjoyable weekend. I am going to take the kids to see a litter of kittens and do my very best to return home without one.
