A Challenge from S3?

RE: "The current S3 Savage3D D3D review/benchmarks show the chip is faster than Banshee and TNT...only the G200 needs to be compared. ....and all this for only $99-149...
Hellllloooo...I'm not a short..just an engineer stating the FACTS!

The logic most of you are using seems to indicate that even if the S3 cards cost $70 and were just as fast as an SLI V2 in D3D...you would still dismiss the S3 chip...why???" as posted by Mike Boiko.

Mike, it sounds like a good question to me, especially when you put it that way. And you are exactly right in saying that I, for one, have not thought this point through.

Could you please expound a little on your point. What scenario would you predict will/could take place? How persuasive is the S3 advantage? How deep is TDFX's vulnerability?

Hal

PS: I would also appreciate anyone else's perspective on the question Mike has asked. Thanks. HR

<<The logic most of you are using seems to indicate that even if the S3 cards cost $70 and were just as fast as an SLI V2 in D3D...you would still dismiss the S3 chip...why???>> The answer to this question is in the companies past ability to put out quality boards, which was non-existant i.e.(Virge Trio etc.). So most people are and should be skeptical about the performance of their cards.
