I track three primary indicators besides sticking my finger in the wind and watching the TA on market sectors and indexes using QuotesPlus.

Marketguage provides a lot of information in a nice, concise format. You can click on the sections to drill down to more details;

marketgauge.com

I've been watching this prediction tool for several months and it has been fairly useful for the overall market trend but too general to see what is going on in a particular sector;

flash.net

And then I cap things off with a look at the foreign markets and weight that depending on how much attention seems to be paid at the time and how big a magnitude the movement is - a big move down on foreign markets can be much more telling about the direction of the US market than a smaller move - the US will shrup off the small move;

quote.yahoo.com

A fifteen minute review of these in the morning and other brousing around helps me decide what side of the fence to be on.

What do the markets hold next week? Who knows. Just take YHOO, put it in candlesticks, turn the data to weekly, get your textbook out and marvel at the Shooting Star.

I'd hate to short YHOO (I'm neutral) but this SS is a honey.
