>>>Yes, but just think you can buy on margin. You still have a long way to go:).<<<

:) Actually I'm unbelievably far out on the margin limb already. Some people sell naked calls. I use margin to the hilt. Admittedly probably not the smartest thing to do but I guess I'm just greedy.

>>>I don't see any news yet that can cause an Entremed increase that I would miss.<<<

Well ya just never can tell. Heck I had followed Entremed for months prior to their insane runup and never bought in. There was simply no way to predict what subsequently happened. One might think that the success LGND has had with mouse breast cancer using Targretin would have generated a lot more buzz than it has. Something over a 70% tumor remission rate I think? Which was better than Tamoxofin mice fared. I suspect that if and when LGND has a big runup people on this thread will look at the reasons given for the runup and say something like. "I can't understand it. We knew all this stuff already."

>>>I am convinced that biotechs will eventually be the rage, and that the whole sector will be the focus.>>>

Yep. Same here. Although I hate to use that "rage" word. Sounds too trendy/faddish to suit me. Internet stocks are now the "rage". The R word aptly applies to them I feel. I prefer to think of selected biotech stocks as the "future". The biotechs have been out of favor for ages. It's way past time a sector rotation headed our way.

>>>Can you wait out the millinium?<<<

I'd like to think so. I've been a successful investor thru the years but patience has never been one of my strong suits. Sometimes thats paid off for me and sometimes it hasn't. However even with a stagnant stock heading sideways for ages I find it easier to hold on if I occasionally hear some positive news out of the company. There seems to be no shortage of that with LGND.

As long as an investor/trader doesn't get emotionally involved with this stock (i.e. finding every excuse possible for the downturn -- the 'market', the MM's shaking the tree, the MM's driving down the price so that the 'big boys' can 'scoop-up' some cheap shares), it is fairly easy to make money with Ligand.

The recent decline from $18 was a 'slam-dunk' to call. It was clear that the smart money was selling (that SELLING, not SWAPS). There was plenty of time to take some money off the table with them (as long as the 'excuses' for the decline were ignored).

I predicted that decline correctly. I also stated back before spring that biotechs are generally weak in the summer and that LGND at $10 before Oct was possible. I still see this as a possibility. The time to buy LGND will be in the fall (even 'blockbuster' news can't help this stock now).

Good luck to all (well, almost all ;-))
