Daniel,
How then do you explain Singer (SEW)?
JD sung its praises to be the next Sears Roebuck!

JD does a lot of vacationing; Oooops, I mean (tongue in cheek) "business traveling". He thinks he can get a good "feel" about how a company is doing by looking over the business, talking with the CEO and Presidents of a company, and by talking to the locals. This to me is looking at the world through "rose-colored glasses". Common sense will tell you that most any visitor to a corporation, when taken on a tour of the property, (especially with an investor like John D.) will be shown one glorious time as they put their best foot forward. He will be shown exactly what they want him to see, not what is. And, they will be "putting on the ritz" for him because his suggestions will and do bring in new investors. The real story is in the income statements and balance sheets. As investors, we all need lessons on how to read the financials. The Dessaurer Global Equity Fund (DGE), run by John D and loyal side-kick, Thomas P. McIntyre invest in the same stocks he advises to his subscribers. If you check the chart, the lines look like the S&P 500, upside down. Check it out on Yahoo.

Very dismal record. The March 31, 1998 annual report states, "Dessaurer & McIntyre practices our profession the old-fashioned way. We do not rely upon technical analysis or computer screening. We get out of the office and go to visit companies" And this, my good friends, IMHO, is the entire problem. John should travel less, and read the financials more! And, last, but not least: The person who needs to be reading this board MOST, is JD himself! But he can't; he's vacationing on subscription money; I mean "business traveling"!

Dan: Thanks for clearing that up. I didn't think this out, but rather reacted. I have cppky and while I did make the decision to buy it, I'm upset like many others about the lack of information from JD.

Again thanks for your post. It helped!

Gale

I began subscribing to John Dessauer in the 1980s when he had his Journal; I recall Micron Technology as one of his great picks. I live in Istanbul now, and have great difficulty getting timely advice via his Investors World. Through March, I could get it online, but then later issues did not appear. I could not find any online source via any of the search engines for his Investors World.

I would greatly appreciate if someone can refer me to a Web site which carries his publication.

All my best,

Osman.
