However, I do admire the First Amendment, and regard it as essential for the protection of a democracy. In the UK, only Members of Parliarment are granted the privelage of First Amendment rights, and only when they are in the House of Commons. Everyone else, including the press, is bound by strict libel laws, various 'incitement to' laws, and occasionally the Official Secrets Act. This does not mean there is no free speech on the UK, on the contrary, the press is arguably freer with it's opinion than here in the US. They can be creative getting around laws. e.g. The BBC and ITV were banned from broadcasting Gerry Adams, (the Sinn Fein leader) actual speeches. They got around this by showing film of Mr Adams, dubbed over by an actor repeating his words verbatim. I'm almost certain he gets a sick kick out of provoking. The 'Jewish Conspiracy' is highly effective way of elicitng a response. Look at his brief history on this thread. He expounds his 'belief', then denies the basis for the responses he gets, prompting further response. Pardon my french, but he comes across as a non to subtle 'mind fucker'. He does go away if ignored, which tends to support my hypothesis. Incidently, he is well known on the 'Thread Moron' page. He is known as Evile Vermin over there. w.

What a horrible thing, to have a gun pointed at your children for political reasons. This man was obviously crazy and fortunately things worked out. Fortunately insanity is rare among individuals, the problem is that it is all too common in groups (Nietzsche). This is the problem with the JDLs antigun stand. That man would have gotten a hold of a weapon anyway. Gun control is unilateral disarmament of the law biding. While it doesn't help you at that moment, there are circumstance in which it would be vital. Suppose the efforts of Weisenthal, JDL, Holocaust museums, etc. fail. Societies do go bad. There is antisemitism on both the left and the right. Suppose the PR fails, then all you are left with is a firearm to protect you if they come for you in your house. Yes, changing hearts is vital but if it fails, you need a back up. I strongly urge you to read the materials on the link that I posted for an alternative view.
