Re: "My understanding is that NexGen/AMD design team is much smaller than Intel's and many creative/aggressive engineers would probably like the opportunities and challenges presented in this kind of environment."

Thanks for your comments JBoyd, and let make this clear. AMD has many fine dedicated, hard working, talented people and my hat is off to them. But no company can keep such talent when they see their labor wasted. Fundamental blunders were made by incompetent managers who were raking in $millions$ while screwing up the efforts of those who worked so hard. These idiots ported a fine design to a process using overly aggressive design rules. The yield problems seen over the last year+ are the direct result of a poor marriage of design/design rules and process. Only a fool would have tried to do this, and only a fool did. The blind ambition of taking on Intel at any and all costs was the decision making process, not reason. The design architecture was well executed but the application to AMD's process capability was idiotic. No technically competent person would have made that decision. That leaves only Jerry and his pathological hatred of Intel. He bet the farm (your's and mine) on a dumb idea, and us shareholders are going down the toilet while Jerry is walking away with many many $millions$ in dirt cheap options.

The design team is leaving the sinking ship. The ship deserted them, they had no choice.
