Gustave,

Thanks for posting this interesting article. One point that really interested me was this quote:

Choosing a pure object database or an object-relational system "depends on what kind of applications you want to build," said Dan Fishman, chief architect and chief technical officer at Informix. "For pure object-oriented applications, an object-oriented database is best. For these [applications], you need persistence support; you [therefore] want very rich structures and more navigation capabilities. But if you want to extend existing applications, the object-relational database will do."

This only lacks the phrase "legacy system": the idea is certainly there. It is really interesting to see a relational vendor saying that a pure ODBMS would be the first coice for new object-oriented development. I have always believed this, but I thought the RDBMS and ORDBMS vendors would not admit it.

Gustave...

>>Bob, the Jasmine vs. ObjectStore Battle has begun!<<

Wow, what a week. I have been away all week and now I think I will go away again. I have not caught up with all the posts but they must be exciting with the good news on the earnings front.

Actually I will be away for a few more days so I will not get to the posts until Wed.

Go ODIS.

BTW, while on my "vacation" (actually how does anyone who is retired take a vacation?) I was surprised to see NO MENTION of ODIS's successful Q in the Boston Globe. If I missed it I apologize but I read it every day. If this is true, and anyone on this thread is from ODIS, what up? Get the PR firm you just hired busy! You had a great Q, get some press!!

Bob T.
