Tobias Why did Intel give Samsung
money. ($ 500 mil i think) They apparently used it to compete with intel. Is there some special strategy in this???

Yes, I noticed that also. Samsung has long had a relationship with Digital/Cpq regarding Alpha, so I don't think it was a surprise to Intel.

Intel indicated they wanted to ensure a continuous supply of high-speed RAM. If I am not mistaken, I believe Intel was investing in building a factory with Samsung.

The tech sector has numerous cases where companies are customers, competitors and suppliers to each other.

Now where did you come up with this story?

Intel has an investment - from several years back - in a Samsung memory fab in Texas.

And a "rumor" was circulated about a pending Intel-LG Semicon investment.
