Ben,
IMHO ... They will figure out a way to cut that loss...

Wouldn't it just take a well placed downgrade... say the day before options expiration.. due to some made-up or dredged-up old reason.. (like AMD earnings disappointment, Intel missing the whisper number,Asia, Japan, CPQ troubles being attributed to industry rather than their sorry management, etc.)to turn the tide for morning and leading up to options expiration time.
If this kind of blatant manipulation would occur for a day, I would not be a bit surprised.

They don't even have to publish their retraction the next week.
I hope it happens (and the SEC can prove the collusion).

Other possibility is they have already read the tea leaves and bought back those options. Is there any way to tell?

Craig

Ben,

Looking at the DELL July '98 Max-Pain graph, it would take some pretty hefty negative news by friday to pressure the stock price down to the $85-$90 range. It would have to occur quickly and closer to friday's option expirations as any pullback before then would be grabbed as a buying opportunity by me and others. Although it is possible, somehow I just don't see that happening by the shareholders meeting. By the way thanks for keeping DELL updated in your chart.

So Ben, what do you now think about Max-Pain as a predictive device? I said last time we exchanged notes that I was extremely dubious of Dell going out at 85. But will it go out at 110? 115?
