With regard to advertisements.

As you know, the advertisements you see are often tailored to the subject matter of the page . If you go to YAHOO automobiles , for example , you WILL see adverts by auto manufacturers ... I can remember seeing adverts by Lexus and Ford quite recently.

I also wonder if the adverts are tailored to the individual user . Perhaps that is why you have not been seeing adverts from the big name companies .In any case ,I am sure they will be individualised ( if there is such a word ) in the future. I am an Australian living in the U.S but I saw an advert mentioning Mark McGwire on the Yahoo Australia page the other day. Very few people in Australia would know who he was !

I agree with your sentiments completely.

However, a minor point: YHOO's market cap is around 9 billion, not 100 billion+. This is only a small difference that does not detract from your main point, with which I agree. Excuse me if you were using hyperbole, and I was too dim to realize it...

>> You have decided to give a company that maintains a free directory service and search engine and can only B E G for advertisement contracts NOT demand them from customers, a market cap of a whopping 100 billion+ when at its current growth rate it might never reach 500 million in revenues by end of Year 2000 !!
