I can assure you that I have NOT made any substantial extra money out of coverage of the Crystallex story.

VHeadline/VENews' undoubted publishing success comes in many other spheres but has not yet accrued any signicant financial reward for what amounts to two and a half years of sweated labor,

best regards
Roy S. Carson

Roy Carson's old investment advisories make for interesting reading now that Crystallex's tort tango in Caracas has come to a close.

Here's a summary of what this well-plugged-in journalist had to say following the July 15, 1997 ruling. This is from July 17, 1997 and the original can be found on the Crystallex tout site, VENews.

By the way, this is my first posting on Silicon Investor. I'm a reporter for Canada Stockwatch and have followed the KRY story quite closely.

Mr Carson has managed to convince his business partner, Stockhouse, that what you see below is a violation of his copyright. Stockhouse hosts Mr Carson's website.

His complaints about copyright is, of course, nonsense. The summaries are no more in violation of his copyright than is a New York Times story being run on the wires and being reported in other newspapers. Canada Stockwatch has been summarizing newsletter writer and newspaper items about individual stocks since 1984 and has not had one formal complaint about the practise. Mr Carson has threatened legal action over our summarizings of his past work, but we don't expect to hear from is Vancouver counsel.

Future postings of what you see below will result in my being banned by Stockhouse which, as a publisher, appears to have an odd view of what constitutes copyright infringement. This is especially ironic given that whole stories from both Stockwatch and the Financial Post (of Canada) have recently been reproduced on the site without Stockhouse considering it to be a problem.

We have secured most of his e-mail subscriber items ($100 a month) and the advice he dispenses in these is particularly interesting because he didn't think other news organizations would get them. They make for excellent reference material for Stockwatch's lengthy data base on Crystallex.

Clearly, Mr Carson is concerned about light being shone on his past touts, especially now that lawyers are circling in the form of a class-action suit out of New York. He refuses to comment on his old investment advisories besides making noises about legal notices that are never delivered.

Carson says Fung blows a gasket

Thursday Jul 17 1997

Roy Carson, writing in a July 17, 1997 VENews Internet website news item, says Placer Dome's "blitz of disinformation" following the July 15 ruling by the Venezuelan Supreme Court has angered officials at both Crystallex International and the judiciary. That decision blocked Crystallex International's bid to sue over gold rights, but admitted a challenge over copper rights. KRY is appealing. At issue is Las Cristinas 4 & 6 concessions, which have been worked by Placer Dome since 1992. Mr. Carson is KRY's unofficial advocate in Caracas, and the Irish-British national refers to Placer's recent press release that says the court has largely backed PDG's position. That release has sent KRY director Robert Fung into apoplexy, he says. The journalist reports Mr. Fung has "blown his stack and slammed all doors on Placer Dome" as a result. Placer, Mr. Carson says, will only get into negotiations with Crystallex "over his dead body or an offer a zillion times greater than the $23 a share they were offering as tops" before the court made its ruling. In addition, Mr. Carson reports, supreme court Chief Justice Cecilia Sosa Gomez has "almost succeeded in reaching Fung's vaporizing point" after seeing how the issue was covered in the Canadian news media.

---------------

My questions to Mr Carson are:

1. How did he come to understand the states of mind of both Mr Fung and Madam Gomez.

2. Does he believe the $23 a share offer from Placer Dome is still valid, considering that Mr Carson also believes Crystallex still holds title to Las Cristinas 4/6.

If it's not still on the table, then when was the offer withdrawn?
