Ken,

I think Zapit.com is already registered. You might want to compare the financials of ZAP and KTEL. ZAP is in considerably better shape, has a fair amount of cash, good earnings on their core holdings, outstanding shares declining over the past year and successful history. Don't understand the problem with a stock being hyped up to 20x current years earnings or there about. ZAP is a fundamentally sound company without the internet sites. If they can generate added earnings from a number of internet stocks they will be in better financial shape in the future which should translate to increased stock price. If this stock were trading at $80 I would agree with your view but this stock does not appear to be overvalued in my opinion.

Perhaps with all of the connections stated in your earlier link (the Bush administration) ZAP could become a "one world" portal; I smell money - maybe?

It'll cost you something to get zapit.com, and to receive a Registered TM it'll cost you more, and to build brand awareness will cost yet more. Now, Coke-Up is probably worth something, more than nothing, but Coke (TM) is worth perhaps $100 billion. There is a difference.

Regardless, I count:
ZAP owns 14.5 mil shares of OMG @ 16.13 = $240M;
ZAP owns 40.4% of EDYM, which is over $40M;
(these are market prices, control is worth additional $$);
ZAP has $114M of cash on hand;
For a total of $395M of tangible assets + office furniture, etc.
As of yesterday's close ZAP's market cap is $399M

Thus the premium for the Internet business is so far not more than $4M, that is less than $0.20 per share.

Any comments?

<<<OK then if I register a domain name of zapit.com it will be instantly be worth big bucks this is just so much crap.

I have been a Webmaster for my wives company which is an on-line catalog for more than three years which in internet terms is an eternity. It has been profitable from day one so I think this qualifies me to give an opinion regarding domain names and their importance.>>>

Joseph I hate to break this news to you but Ken although possibly a bit over-jubulant is nonetheless not too far off. Just last year the Wall Street Journal published a story concerning domain pirates. These are people who actually spend the $150-$200 to own a domain name. What they do is register a domain name of an upcoming event or company or place etc. that is not recognized on the internet. Then comes the day that the actual owners of a business or the organizers of an event etc. want to use that name. But alas they can't because it is already owned by a "domain pirate". Realizing that their recognition value would be heightened by having this domain name they pitch a price to the pirate or the pirate pitches a price to them. The bigger the conglomeration the bigger the price usually. With no disrespect but simply writing some HTML code or some Java applets doesn't make one an expert. For that matter I was using HTML codes in the form of IBM's Bookmaster 15 years ago but I don't qualify myself as being any more or less knowledgable about it then you. But I do know a little something about advertising.

The internet would still be a silly little toy had big business not realized the advertising potential and advertising potential requires exposure. Web site exposure is dependent on name recognition and retention more than anything else. Sure you can bookmark but that is only after you get to the site. Name recognition works especially well in radio advertising as most people listen to radio in their cars. For example, as I write this even though I read your post I have already forgot the name of your wife's site. I can't say the same for Yahoo, Excite, Zap, Amazon or a list of others. Why would a book seller name their site Amazon.com? Take a guess. You know .com isn't the only suffix that you have available to you. .org is also available but no one uses it because .com has become a standard for getting your site recognized. Same goes when someone decides upon a prefix.

The company my wife works for has a website but unfortunately they can't use the URL they want because it is registered with some innocuous entertainment news service. If you don't believe me then try dazzle.com

She would buy the name in a second if she knew she could.

And yes, if you register zapit.com and that name somehow attached itself to a company and or product that is named this then chances are you may not make BIG bucks but if you swung the deal right you would make much more than you paid for it.

As for hyping ZAP beyond any reasonable level. The news is that even at 20 the P/E is still below 25 which in this market is a damn good buy! Any stock of any company that projects increased earnings, sells below 25 with a P/E of 19 with analysts expectations for earnings being more than 15% appreciation isn't bad. What I think shocks a lot of people is that they missed the boat on this one including myself. I am quite sure that there are many out there who have held ZAP for some time that are merely gloating over their victory while some are crying in their beer for not buying in earlier. By the way, KTEL sells cheesy second rate pressings of CD's and tapes. Zapata sells a myriad of products that are useful and can be backlogged toward demand. As someone here has already mentioned their internet business is almost free for the taking.
