<<<< How many more doubles to go in dell before it slows down? Is there any serious build -to- order just-in- time competition out three?
It bothers me if I cannot find a flaw in a stock. Is there a weakness somewhere in Dell that a rival (or cabal of bears) could exploit>>>>>
Doubles will result from continued growth in sales and earnings
Dell still has the growth( might be accelerating, see recent portable sales), the plans, the production facilities, the land( 570 acres
under development in Austin which may include 6.2 mil square feet under roof), three new plants being built or planned overseas, and three new buildings being built at Round Rock.
Worries about flagging computer sales are unfounded. Ingram
Micro is building many new computer assembly facilities, CPQ has purchased the vacant new Tulip facility in Holland.
Corrective action for Yr 2000 should produce greatly increased demand. The market is available! My local Radio Shack has sold out of CPQ's
Companies can copy some of Dells ideas and become somewhat more efficient, but one of Dells main assets besides efficiency is the trust and confidence in the product (and Dell) by government agencies and by companies who previously dealt with Dell.
It is something to be earned over the years, not 'copied'
Compare the TXN 10 k with the Dell 1998 stockholders report,
one is an un-interpretable miss-mash apparently written by attorneys
( try to compute executive compensation!!), the other is a clear
description of teamwork.
Dell (as anyone)has problems in designing and producing new products, we don't hear much about those problems as they don't reach the production stage .
Does Dell have a fatal flaw that bears can exploit???
Dell has been in the thick of things, up against the 'biggies'
for many years. You can bet your bottom dollar ( that's a long way down, I guess)Hehehe) that salesmen for other companies
have used every trick in the book ( includes promises)to put a positive spin on their products and a negative spin on Dell's proposals.
A recent one was that Dell produces a cheap product because of their lower costs. Dell is counteracting that with the new ad. campaign.
Dell may have a bit of political flaw but I don't want to
discuss it here and its not fatal. George W Bush of TX MIGHT be asked to run for President.(ggg) He would get my vote.
Perhaps Gabriel could be persuaded to estimate the next double for Dell, but its tough, if starting a few weeks ago it would be only 160 reqd, next week it may be 220 reqd.(gggg)
Regards and good luck
