Just got my MANU annual report in the mail yesterday, and while I'm still reading it over, I have this off-the-cuff observation. Flipping through it, I was immediately struck by the picture of the MANU CFO, Peter Repetti. He looks like a goofy kid. What kind of big-league company would have a greenhorn cutting his teeth as a CFO? This is the kind of guy who would walk in on the CEO and his cronies planning some illegal scheme, and would say something like, "Gee guys, what's up?" and they would pat him on his head and say, "Hey Beav why don't you go read those 10Qs like we asked you to." Is it any wonder that we had the disastrous first quarter earnings?! On the other hand, now that I've seen what he looks like, I actually find it plausible that this guy was naive enough to sell all of his shares in MANU just before the pre-announcement of the horrendous quarter: "Gee Wally, I'm sorry. I guess I just wasn't thinking." This does not instill confidence in management, IMHO.
