Great article in today's IBD, page A32.

Forget Macro, Think Micro In New Era

A great article on economic forecasting and how the old models are failing thanks to Technology. The U.S. economy's new Era of growth is tech-driven. And we are only just beginning to feel the impact of the high-tech revolution. One example mentioned is EGGS:

In January, software retailer Egghead, Inc. closed its 80 stores, changed its name to Egghead.com Inc. and moved its whole operation to the Internet. In the process, the firm reduced its work force by 80%.

This transformation at Egghead is quintessentially New Era. With sales up and employment down, productivity is strong. This means higher profits for stockholders and lower prices for customers. What will happen to Computer City ?

The following may explain the 300k block: "Level 3 Nasdaq indicates that Smith Barney is buying a whackload up to 800,000 shares. Short covering or genuine buying? We think the former." This was put out by the newsletter "Nasdaq BB Alert" around noon on Friday. I have level 2 but not level 3 so I can't confirm if what they say is true, but it sounds plausible. I posted on the Gap Up board that this is a good candidate for a positive gap on Monday, and everything I've been reading & hearing over the weekend confirms that.

with some short squeeze, EGGS might be heading to $100, hold your EGGS shares to help squeeze big boys. with 23M common shares, it traded 20.5M shares, could be $1000 next month if big boy wants to kick shorts big time and insiders holding their shares to help.
