i suspect that half the players on this thread are dellionaires when you consider that 10,000 only 2 years ago is over $320,000 today.
I am new to the thread too and first bought Dell in August 1997. It attracted my attention because at the time intel, msft, and compaq were getting beaten up and yet dell did not go down . weeks of research later i bought the stock. Like almost all Dell buyers I had the nagging feeling I bought it too high, and too late. I thought well if it only doubles, I'll be happy. then sell. Now I did more research. And I say DON'T EVER SELL DELL at least for the next 5-10 years.
There is only one exception : sometimes you can if you are quick enough pick up some easy money by buying dell 45 to 30 days before its next quarterly earnings announcement(Aug. 19 is the next scheduled one) then sell it either just before or a week or so after the announcement itself, depending on whether you expect Dell to beat the whisper number or not. Then after Dell drops 20% from its earnings announcement high buy it back while its' on sale.
...the more I learn about Dell I think it will double and split one more time this year, and double and split twice next year, and the year after that. If it continues as it has in the past. Should it slow down by 50% then it will double only once a year. That is not bad I keep asking this thread what's the flaw in Dell. they can come up with nothing of any substance.
