Huhuhuhu Dutch Goldfinger I'm feeling what you feel. Dutch tried again walking with big dogs and ... got pi... They could not even beat Croatia. Again, all armchair experts were wrong.
Acting like Klaus ? I cannot remember complaining against referees, just said it was bad luck, did not blame anybody, did not complain. I faced it. Being sad, yes, why not. But not blaming anybody, So, acting like Klaus ? Maybe learn reading.

oooooohhhh I feeeeeeeeel YOUR paaaaaaaaiiiiiiiiin, brotha, I feeeeeeeel YOUR paaaaaaaaiiiiiiinnn brotha...... uuuuuuuhhhhheeeeeee

Big [wet] dog frustration syndrome........ Of course acting like Klaus!!!

If it is not referee (Goldfinger's case), it is ba-a-a-a-ad luck (Klaus Kase) either way, it is blaming something else, bad luck, bad karma, old [soccer] bones, etc. etc.

Klaus and Goldfinger have now two things in common, both lost in World Cup, '98 and both lost to evil Croatians, the giant head chopper of World Cup '98

But that is ok Klaus, you have provided lots of fun, without you Klaus, this thread would not be the same, which today, sadly it is coming to its end.... buuuuuu huuuuuuu snif, snif....

Zebra not retired, not working off taxpayer money, but yes Zebra unemployed hobo, living in cardboard house underneath freeway in Florida, where lots of European tourists visit or have second homes in the land of plenty.... living off of bets of European soccer fans, primarily, rabid Dutch, and German fans in World Cup events. enough so that I only have to work once every four years.

I live very frugal. I use computer from lady friends the first one was a very nice Hungarian lady, (Yolan), that bet many many dollars with me in 1954, (I sided with your mates, Klaus, you know, back then they were the underdogs, wow, wow,), and she has not been able to pay me, (so she says), she pays me monthly, (you know like old folks pension in Germany).

She is loaded, I know she could pay me in one lump sum, but then if she does that, she knows I will not come back again, and she has invited me to live with her, but many problems could arise from such arrangement, so I tell her that first I have to "clear up" things with cardboard house landlord first.

The truth is that I have other lady friends, that since '54, they have been losing soccer bets, you see, I have a number of lady friends:

Sweedish, (Ingrid, vintage '58) Czechoslovakian, (Liba, vintage 62) German, (Helga, vintage 66), Italian (Sof¡a, vintage '70), Dutch (Ineke, vintage 74), in 1978 I passed, as I was not sure, who would win, in any event the thought of having an Argentinean lady Friend, at first, scared me so I by passed vintage 78.... Then 82, I skipped, as I already had both lady friends, same with 86, you know, the Argentina factor...Finally in 90, I decided to give it a try, and it has turned out to be a real blast and fun lady friend from Argentina (Rosario) ... except her accent, I keep thinking she is going to start singing opera any minute, but she never does.

The big problem with the South American lady friend, is that she tries to pay me in Argentinean Pesos, and I keep having to remind her that the bet was in US Dollars....(besides, she is not used to the European Pension system, and she keeps telling me that she wants to marry me, and void the debt......), at which point, I really get scared..... but then when I do not visit her for a few weeks, then she stops the nonsense talk..... But otherwise, she is a great lady.

94 I skipped again, as I had already Italian lady friend, and I do not like to repeat....

This year, the bets so far have been generous so much so, that I may skip again.... you know having a French lady friend could turn out to be one of those necessary evils in life... She cooks incredibly well, but she does not shave her armpits..... I do not know about that..... then she has to use a heavy amount of "French smelly water" like Channel # 5 (or similar)

I was lucky very few people wanted to bet with Norway, so I only lost a few dollars.... wheeeuuu, now THAT was lucky.....

Besides old Zebra is getting of vintage myself, so I am not sure, and again, I have all these girlfriends to visit already.... I guess I will decide later if I cancel the bet or not.

So far I have seven (one for each day of the week !!), so # 8 would really complicate matters.

Anyhow, I use computer from my lady girlfriends and so I have lots of time to write in crazy SI Universe, where the moron is king..... I got a great nomination last night, by a first time poster, no less! I guess that must be a record.

All money matters are taken care by old bets from World Cup losers....
it is the World Cup Pension Fund

So yes, I am unemployed hobo, with lots of time.

Waiting now for his lengthy post bashing me again.

Naw... I decided you are a good guy.... a fellow Armchair [dreamer] Expert, no less, so that's ok.

Brazil 4 (5?) times WC
Italy 3 times WC
Germany 3 times WC

54 got lucky with Hungarians... Puskas, Kocksis, and friends became big headed, and went to sleep after 2 x 0 lead, and unlucky step by goal keeper in wet grass....

74 home advantage... lucky again !

90 they beat Argentina.... boy that was easy !! (help from Penalty by Mexican referee).... ahhhaaa !! now we know why old socks do not complain about referees.... well, nevertheless, a victory is a victory..... put in the past.. Memories......

Memories.... ohhhh sweet memories, of yesteryear...... Yesterday... all my memories of .... Yesteryear.....

Anyway, Thanks for your co-operation here in the Circus Soccer, it has been fun, too bad it is now coming to an end, I guess we will meet again, in..... 4 years....

Enjoy the game today...

Vence Brasil !!

I guess beating Argentina and taking Brazil to penalty kicks is considered choking? Come on, Klaus.

What Holland need is a decent coach! George, you are absolutely right. Whenever Seedorf gets the ball I cringe. He is an absolute joke. He tries to dribble around and always invariably does one of two things: a) has the ball stripped from him, or b) makes a laughable pass that is immediately intercepted. Cruyff would have never even included him on the team as a bench-warmer!

As for the loss, like Tombet I have come to grips with it, though I feel it was a golden opportunity, and those don't come by very often. If Kluivert could have converted a mere one of the half-dozen easy chances in front of the goal he had, Holland WOULD be in the final, but alas, Kluivert apparently doesn't have the class of Bergkamp, and just cannot finish consistently at this level. I hope he proves me wrong soon, however. Perhaps it's all a blessing in disguise, for I would rather have lost to Brazil than to France. Now THAT would have been devastating.

Good luck to both teams. Although I've been annoyed throughout this World Cup at the presentation of Brazil as the overwhelming, unbeatable favorite, to I believe the detriment of other class teams, such as Holland and England, I do hope and feel Brazil will win. In my opinion, it would be almost disgraceful to have France win, when there were at least four teams far better than they (Holland, England, Argentina, and Brazil), if not more. Still, the home field advantage is a powerful one. I hope the Brazilians don't knuckle under. And I think Zagallo is wrong to have Bebeto playing as much as he is. Denilson is an absolutely awesome player. He was the only Brazilian whom I really truly feared when Holland played Brazil. When he came on the field, I said "Oh no." And he proved it - he was almost unstoppable against Holland. I was surprised he didn't score. A pity for Holland they did not win this time, for next time, when Denilson and Ronaldo are playing together an entire 90 minutes, they will be far, far more difficult to beat. So good luck to all supporters. I personally am rooting for Brazil. And above all, please no shoot-out!
