Given that the issue has already been "decided", I should probably keep quiet. While Pollan is very different than Bob, I didn't find him as objectionable as others have found him. I preferred him to the other guest hosts.

He actually had something to say unlike some of the previous guest hosts. And his expertise was in areas that Bob doesn't address - financial lifestyle issues. This different focus was nice for a weekend.

He took different positions on a number of major issues - the financial planner issue was one. He advocating using professionals. But he went into detail as to how to select a fee-based financial planner. By listening to Bob, one clearly doesn't need a planner. But Pollan's advice is sort of one-shot and the planner idea may make sense in the context where he can't provide the multi-show education Bob does.

My biggest complaint was his monotone voice. He could do well to take some voice lessons.

While I wouldn't want to see Pollan replace Bob, I found him a better choice for a weekend. After all, this will provide Bob with a well deserved rest.
