Bingo John, me too.

Besides you can buy books published overseas which you normally don't find in book stores, also amazon help you get out of print books too.I love it. Also I was able to find hard to find books in Economics, philosophy, literature et al through amazon, don't think your neighborhood Dalton or Waldon's carry them, don't get me wrong they are good if one's interest is limited to offerings from 'book of the moth club'<gg>.

BTW, I was first introduced to amazon.com by Yahoo too and I don't know what some of the posters are suggesting here just because they don't hit on the ad banners they find on Yahoo site,I guess people go to these sites if they are interested in particular information these folks are offering and if they are not they don't, I don't think banner ads are all that different from any other form of advertising.

It is naive to assume just because millions of people see a Budweiser commerical on TV they are all going to go out and buy Budweiser beer, some buy Coors and some even Zema (whatever the heck that is} and a majority don't buy none of these.

<<I buy all my books online. It's quick and easy. I don't have to drive to a store and search the shelves for a particular book. And when I can't find it I have to stand in line to ask the clerk if he stocks the book>>

In contrast, I don't buy anything online. I buy my books downtown at Barnes and Noble where there are plenty of sofas and chairs to sit down with my proposed new purchase. If I want I can step next door to a great coffee shop and ponder my selection. There's rarely a line at the check-out. I can leisurely search the shelves for other selections or magazines that might catch my fascination.

I will never buy books online.
