If AMD hadn't cut price to the bone in the first place none of this would have happened, even if CPQ, IBM, etc. had used AMD chips. Look at the 386 days. AMD and Intel charged a fortune, major box makers used both companies with Intel enjoying a roughly 70/30 split of the market.

It has nothing at all to do with the box makers. They saw an opportunity to try and grow sales and save money and jumped all over it. AMD is at fault by cutting the snot out of pricing.
