What was that that Caterpillar did with their striking workers? Do you think GM could do the same and shut the UAW out of their plants? I heard a far fetched rumor that possibly Toyota could buy GM. If you think about it, they have the capital structure to do it. They have a strong global market, but they are slacking in North America. If they buy GM, they could gain a strong North American market share, consolidate and save in manufacturing costs. Also they could spin off Hughes and Delphi and could get the car company relatively cheap. I don't think it will happen in the near future, but if the yen gets stronger, maybe they will do something in the next five years.
