I do not have the exact percentage breakdown of MM vs private investor option writing. But, from the articles and columns on the subject that I've read, other than a growing tendency for private investors to write 'covered-calls', the vast majority of open interest is written by MMs and fund managers.

I don't know what your particular situation is re the rest of the investors in the market, so I really can't say where you fit in the spectrum. However, if you 'write'/'sell' PUT contracts and are a private investor, I would make a guess that you are in a small minority.
