stockroach, good questions. I don't have the time or inclination to
go back searching earlier posts (around January, I think, if you want
to do it) but I think I remember someone saying that S3 just kind of
blind-sided Intel on the patents. I don't know if it were sealed bids
or not, but I think Intel just was being a little too nonchalant about
the patents and S3 was able sneak away with them.

Frank's only been wrong on a couple of things....but remember, his sources were the group at the next table in a bar. Next morning, I have a hard time remembering which bar I was at, let alone what conversations I may have overheard. :-)

Frank, nice skyline...does George have a little apartment nearby?
In S.F., that would be located near the Castro district.

Greg: <I mean no disrespect Frank,> Of course none is taken.
< I would like you to give me a better understanding of this possibility because if it were to be true this would huge for S3.>

First, I'll address the exp. patients, Intc got caught at the wheel, they wanted no needed those patients and as it happens at very large companies it slipped between the cracks. I have heard this from multiple sources. I have heard from a high tech analyst in CA, there is a clear patient problem with the mericer chip which could be solved with those patients.

<How much confidence do you have in your source?>

Now that the 64,000 dollar question, rather than relaying on any ONE person I usually try to collect bit and pieces of info from several different people and get an overall picture. It would seem "likely" that there is some smoke here and maybe even fire. In my own mind its 100% something is brewing here as to what I just don't know for sure yet.

<Is this the same person who told you S3 was buying Nine?>

No, but for the record I still stand by the nine rumor, the deal fell apart because nine management insisted on a "package" for the rank and file employees, which S3 said was to costly.

As far as the stock price goes, maybe there are some smart people buying??
