Well, I sure won't be opening a Discover or a Fidelity account. <g> I was relating how Waterhouse clears checks. They have no problem with letting you use margin funds to cover a check. Remember though, Datek has no money market account, just an entry for "available cash". My current available cash includes more than my "real cash" balance would if the type 5 account cash were deducted. My assumption was that Datek would allow you to write checks up to the "available cash" limit. Perhaps that is incorrect. I guess we'll just have to wait and see how Datek decides to do it.
