Grant, It is obvious that you, like many of the others here, think that Evolution is being taught in our public schools. Will you please direct me to a textbook that gives more than a casual one paragraph reference to evolution. The wrong wingers have been hard at work making sure that any references that even suggest evolution have been censored from the science books in most states. The fact that most people believe it is being taught shows that their disinformation campaign has been working, and that few parents read their children's books.

Hi, Grant!! Welcome to the Feelings thread. You ask a lot of questions in your post that are hard for me to answer right now, because I am cooking dinner, and also because I am not a scientist. I did find a web page which deals with why calling evolution a THEORY in scientific terms does not mean that it is just an unproven idea. This web page also addresses your question about transitional animal forms.

What I said about apes--and perhaps a scientifically-oriented person could explain it more accurately--is that when human and chimpanzee genetic structure is analyzed, only two percent of the structure is dissimilar. That is in indication that we are very, very closely related to them. Maybe you could explain to me why that is so disturbing to Christians.

The fact that there are organisms like the bombardier beetle who are very well adapted does not seem to me to be proof that God created everything, or not. There are lots of very well adapted species. Maybe I don't quite understand your point.

Here is the url about what the word 'theory' really means about evolution, and why there are not a lot of transitional form fossils:

It is hard for me to imagine that any other group has a vested interest in disproving evolutionary theory except Bible believers. Could you tell me who some of the non-religious ones are, or show me the web pages?
